Los Angeles Blades are celebrating their 20th, YES, 20th Anniversary
in 2005.

The
Blades were established in 1985 as the very first openly gay and lesbian
Ice Hockey Club in the United States.
Currently, the Los Angeles Blades are fielding two teams for the
2005 summer season, a beginer/novice level team in the Pacific Coast
Hockey League (PCHL) at Glacial Gardens Lakewood Arena, and an intermediate
level team playing in the Western Pacific Hockey League (WPHL)
at the Skating Edge Ice Arena, Harbor City / Torrance.
The Blades have a long and solid tradition, fielding 2-3 teams over
the past several years. Winning the 2001-2002 PCHL Level 3 Winter
Championship, the gold medal in the 1998 Toronto Friendship tournament,
playing for the Bronze in the 1998 Gay Games in Amsterdam and 2002
Gay Games in Sydney, winning silver medals in 1998 at Seattle Slide
for Pride tournament, the 1994 Gay Games in New York and 1990 Gay
Games in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
